      • Sensing the Warmth of History in Modernity

Where history and innovation meet, Kandy’s porcelain series breathes new life into classic blue and white motifs, infusing modern spaces with refined cultural depth.

        broken image

        Tang Dynasty (7th–9th century)

The earliest precursors of blue and white porcelain appeared during the Tang Dynasty, blending imported cobalt pigment with fine white clay. These early works were exported to the Middle East via the Silk Road.

        broken image

        Yuan Dynasty (13th–14th century)

Blue and white porcelain became fully developed. Jingdezhen emerged as the world’s first major porcelain production center. Yuan ceramics were mass-exported to Asia, the Middle East, and Africa—setting the global standard for fine ceramic ware.

        Ming Dynasty (15th–17th century)

The golden age of blue and white porcelain. Ming ware entered European royal collections and influenced Western ceramic aesthetics, from Delftware in the Netherlands to British Staffordshire pottery.

        Qing Dynasty (18th–19th century)

Porcelain techniques reached new technical heights. Complex overglaze decorations, export styles, and customized pieces for European markets flourished, deepening its global influence.

        Delftware in the Netherlands

Inspired by imported Ming porcelain in the 17th century, Dutch artisans in Delft began producing tin-glazed earthenware with blue and white decoration. Delftware mimicked Chinese motifs—floral, landscape, and mythical elements—and became a European symbol of refinement and luxury.

        Staffordshire Pottery in England

During the 18th and 19th centuries, British manufacturers in Staffordshire developed mass-produced ceramics influenced by Chinese blue and white porcelain. These works featured transfer printing and local adaptations of Eastern designs, making refined aesthetics accessible to middle-class households.

      • Our innovative blue and white collection brings a lighter, warmer approach to traditional aesthetics. Softened color palettes and simplified floral motifs reinterpret the elegance of blue and white porcelain with a fresh perspective. Moving beyond the confines of traditional ceramics, this collection incorporates diverse materials such as textiles and wood, introducing blue and white patterns into a broader array of lifestyle products. With interactive design and smart lighting technology, each piece lights up and adjusts brightness as users approach, creating a relaxed and inviting ambiance. This approach not only preserves the historical essence of blue and white porcelain but also infuses it with a modern warmth and versatility, bridging tradition and contemporary art with a forward-looking spirit.
